Now getting ready to welcome 2017 with her new loving family
Una's Story: Una was rescued from a local shelter. She was overweight and was heartworm positive. After taking her to the vet, we found she also had thrombocytopenia. However, she passed her immune system test. Therefore, we have no idea why she has thrombocytopenia. After treatment of steroids, now her blood platelet is back to normal. The vet thinks Una has temporary immune system disorder. That’s why she has thrombocytopenia. Luckily, she is fine now. We are very happy that Una is finally ready for adoption. Although it has taken her over 7 months to recover her health, it has been worthwhile.
Una is a sweet and affectionate girl. She is very active and playful. She loves to play balls and adores swimming. She enjoys staying around people and waiting patiently to be petted. She is sensitive when there is noise outside. She may bark sometimes, but you can stop her easily. Una listens to commands. She is very obedient to people. She gets along with dogs well, but she prefers hanging around with people most of the time. Una is very food obsessive. She will fight for food. We think she was probably a strayed dog before she was sent to a shelter. The way she survive on the streets is to fight for food and learn to protect herself. As long as she gets some training, she will know how to be a well-mannered dog. Therefore, we would like to find her an experienced owner to work on her issue together. Una is spayed, healthy, up to date on vaccines and chipped.

Leona's Story: Leona is from owner surrender. The way her owner keeps her is to let her run free. Therefore, Leona went anywhere she wanted. Sometimes people thought she’s lost and reported her to the animal control. Her owner didn't care if Leona came home or not. It’s totally wrong to have a dog wandering on busy streets. That’s why we got a call for help and decided to persuade the owner to surrender Leona to the rescue. Good news was that the owner was willing to give away Leona, so she came to our rescue.
Leona was heartworm positive when rescued. She also had mange. After taking her to the vet, now she has finished her treatment and is a very healthy girl. Leona is a very sweet and affectionate girl. She loves her human companions a lot and is very obedient. However, when it comes with toys, she becomes very obsessive. She won’t let go the toy if it’s in her mouth. She may warn you when you try to get it out, but she never bites. We think she better goes to a home without young kids. Leona will learn to behave well if she takes some training classes. Therefore, we would like to find her an experienced owner to work with her.
Leona gets along with dogs well. She plays with them sometimes. Most of the time, she is good with dogs. However, she will still fight back if other dogs are not friendly. Leona is spayed, healthy, up to date on vaccines and chipped

Now making her list and checking it twice in a loving family
Mei Mei's Story: MeiMei was rescued from a private dog shelter. The shelter is not a good place for dogs to stay. They only provide food and water. However, they don’t take dogs to the vet because they have no money. We pulled MeiMei out and took her to the vet. She had mange and was severely unnourished when we picked her up. After a four-week treatment, her skin issue has been fixed. She also gained some weight. Now she is healthy and ready for adoption. MeiMei is a timid girl. She used to live with a lot of dogs. Since she is still a young girl, she is not well socialized. She shows fear when dogs bark at her or people yell loudly. It takes her some time to settle down. As long as she feels relaxed and comfortable, she will start showing her personality. MeiMei needs more love and care so she can feel secure. She is sweet and affectionate when she’s bonded to her human companions. MeiMei gets along with dos well. She will play with dogs if she is familiar with them. We are looking for a home where MeiMei can get the attention she deserves. MeiMei is spayed, healthy, up to date on vaccines and chipped.

Mike's Story: Mike was abandoned by his owner in a local shelter of Taiwan. He was only a 4-5 months old puppy. The owner felt tired taking care of a playful puppy and decided to get rid of him no matter what. Mike was very skinny when our volunteer picked him up. He only weight 25 lb. As a Great Pyrenees, Mike’s weight was way lower than it needed to be. Mike is now fostered with a female golden and is learning everything from his role model. He gains weight every day. Mike is a sweet boy. He goes out for walks daily and enjoys cuddling with his human companions. He is full of energy and loves playing with dogs. Mike is also very friendly to kids. He has a very good temperament. We are sure he will be a perfect family dog as long as he is well-trained. We would like to find Mike a home where he can get the attention he deserves. Since he is still a puppy, he will need obedience training. Also he needs a fenced-in yard and regular exercise. According to this video, Great Pyrenees seem to need weekly grooming. http://www.animalplanet.com/…/dogs-1…/videos/great-pyrenees/ Therefore, an experienced owner is preferred. We know people all love puppies. However, we are looking for a forever home for Mike. We hope his new owner is willing to have a long-term relationship with this cute pup. By the way, we also want to have some updates after Mike goes to his new home. Mike is not neutered yet. According to the vet, it’s better to neuter him after he is 7 or 8 months old. Mike is healthy, up to date on vaccines and chipped
Age: 8-9 years
Tachi's Story: Tachi was surrendered by her owner. Since her owner has a new born baby, she’s not allowed to stay in the house anymore. Her owner chained her outside of the house all day. Therefore, the neighbors reported her situation to animal control couple times. We got calls and went to check Tachi’s condition several times as well. Sadly, the owner refused to let Tachi go with us. Until few weeks ago, the owner finally agreed to surrender Tachi. We are so relieved that Tachi can go to the rescue instead of leaving there to die After taking Tachi to the vet, we found she had a mass cell tumor on her chest. The tumor has been removed. According to X-rays, it doesn’t show any sign that the tumor grows back after some follow-up checks. We think Tachi is healthy and is ready to find a new home now. Tachi is a sweet and gentle girl. She loves going for walks and she always stays next to her human companions. Tachi also gets along with dogs well. She doesn’t play with dogs often though. Tachi has a very good temperament. She enjoys cuddling with people and loves belly rubs a lot. We hope Tachi can find a home to call her own. She can be loved and cared by her family in her senior years. Tachi is spayed, healthy, up to date on vaccines and chipped.
