A majority of True Love Rescue - A Golden Retriever Rescue adoptions are typically adoptive families in Northern California. This is simply due to logistics and distance of travel for our volunteers but we also consider families in other parts of the West Coast, Nevada & Arizona. After the dogs arrive in the United States traveling 20+ hours for 6700 miles, we do not fly them again!
We do consider out-of-state adoptions, but you must be able to drive the dog home from California.
Our goal is to make the best rescue match taking into consideration the dog's background and your family's needs. Every dog is different: personality, temperament, energy, comfort with kids and other animals, medical needs and more. We take all these factors into consideration when making a forever-home match. We are very careful about the placements we make. We do our best to match the right dog with the right adoptive home because we want this to be the pet's permanent home.
Please be patient, as it can take several months to make the perfect match.
We appreciate you wanting to bring a dog into your home. In order for us to find the right pet for you, we need you to submit an adoption application. The more information you can provide, the easier it will be to match your family with the perfect dog.
We will review your application upon receipt. If we have any questions or concerns, we will contact you for clarity. Since we are a 100% volunteer run organization, this could take up to a month depending on the volunteer's availability. Most of us have day jobs and dedicate our free time for the dogs. So, we ask for your patience!
Once your application review is complete, a True Love Rescue - A Golden Retriever Rescue volunteer will contact you to request photos of your home and where the dog will spend their time. Once photos are received, a volunteer will schedule a virtual home visit and discuss all-things dog. During the home visit, we look for potential hazards for the dog that the adopter may not have considered.
Once the volunteer has conducted the interview and answered your questions, we will begin work to match you with a suitable dog. Once approved, please be proactive in the search for your dog. Watch our Facebook page and the website for arriving or available dogs and let the adoption coordinator know if a particular dog interests you. Please be patient, as it could take several months to make the perfect match.
Again, the adoption process can take several months!
